The Upper Room Men’s Morning Study ยท Last updated September 2, 2026
What we collect
When you join reminder texts, we collect your name and mobile number. Email is optional and is used for study logistics, calendar information, and the weekly recap. We also record when, where, and under which policy version you consented, when you confirmed, and when you paused messages so the text program has an auditable consent history.
If you use The Wall, we store the posts, replies, and reactions you choose to submit. A post marked private concern is visible only to you and an authenticated group administrator. Its contents are not copied into alert emails or texts.
Zoom may provide participant names to the organizer after a gathering. We use those names only to record study attendance and recognize consistency.
Text messaging program
- Program: an Upper Room reminder each weekday at 5:45 AM Mountain Time with the public Zoom link, plus confirmation and occasional schedule messages.
- Opt in: submit the signup form with the consent checkbox, or text JOIN to (844) 641-1627. New web signups reply YES before recurring reminders begin.
- Opt out: reply STOP at any time. Reply START to resume.
- Help: reply HELP, or email bales333@protonmail.com.
- Message frequency is generally five reminders per week plus occasional operational messages. Message and data rates may apply.
First-party website measurement
We count a small set of interactions such as page views, Zoom-link opens, calendar downloads, community opens, and completed signup requests. This measurement is first-party: it uses a temporary browser-session identifier and may include the referring domain and campaign tags in the link. We do not store your IP address for analytics, run advertising pixels, or create a cross-site profile.
Service providers
We use service providers only to operate the study: Cloudflare hosts the site and database, Twilio sends and receives text messages, Resend delivers email, and Zoom hosts the live gathering. Each provider processes the limited information needed to perform that service under its own security and privacy terms.
The optional wider community is hosted separately by Mighty Networks. Joining it creates a separate account subject to Mighty Networks’ privacy terms. You do not need that account to attend the study or use The Wall.
What we do not do
No mobile information, text-message opt-in data, or consent records are sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We do not sell member data, run ads, or provide the member roster to outside marketers. Operational service providers are not permitted to use our member information to market their own products through us.
Security and access
The roster and private concerns require administrator authentication. Wall access uses a short-lived one-time code sent to the member’s phone and a secure session cookie. One-time codes expire after ten minutes, are stored as cryptographic digests, and cannot be reused across the Wall and account-removal flows.
Retention, pausing, and deletion
Pausing messages keeps your member record so you can return and so we can honor your opt-out. Choosing Remove me completely at the self-service leave page deletes your contact information and your Wall content after phone verification. Private concerns can also be deleted from The Wall.
Expired verification data and abuse-prevention records are periodically removed. Anonymous interaction records are retained for up to 90 days for basic trend reporting. Some operational delivery records may remain with Twilio, Resend, Zoom, or Cloudflare under those providers’ retention policies.
